Ascorbic acid — living evidence map

The Atlas page holds the claims; this is how its evidence evolved.

Summary

In the LOVIT trial of 872 adults with sepsis on vasopressors, intravenous vitamin C raised the risk of death or persistent organ dysfunction at 28 days compared with placebo (44.5% against 38.5%). · pmid:35704292

Mechanism

Plasma vitamin C is tightly controlled when it is taken by mouth: 1.25 g orally gave peak plasma levels of about 135 micromol/L against about 885 micromol/L intravenously, and modelling predicted a 60-fold gap at the highest doses. · pmid:15068981

Identity

PubChem CID 54670067: L-Ascorbic Acid, C6H8O6, 176.12 g/mol. · pubchem:54670067

CAS registry number 50-81-7. · pubchem:54670067

IUPAC name: (2R)-2-[(1S)-1,2-dihydroxyethyl]-3,4-dihydroxy-2H-furan-5-one. · pubchem:54670067

Structure

No structure representation on record. PepJunkie draws only what an authoritative record supplies; for a peptide that is the residue sequence, and none has been curated for Ascorbic acid yet.

Dose evidence, rung by rung

A studied human dose exists on file. Open the rung: the dose is the paper's, in its context, never PepJunkie's.

  1. Approved-label dose · a resolved regulatory document names a labelled dose

  4. Community-reported protocols · protocol propositions from distinct members, counted once per human

2 resolved citations, 0 unresolved (an unresolved citation lends nothing). Community volume is its own rung and is never averaged into the evidence rungs.
