Methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride) — living evidence map
The Atlas page holds the claims; this is how its evidence evolved.
Summary
Methylthioninium chloride (methylene blue) is the standard treatment for methemoglobinemia; in 185 cases treated over 24 years at a New York poison center, 98% improved, and adverse effects were reported in 4.9%. · pmid:40062661
Mechanism
Methylene blue can carry electrons in the mitochondrial chain directly from NADH to cytochrome c, and has limited neurodegeneration in animal models of stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. · pmid:28840449

PubChem CID 6099: Methylene Blue, C16H18ClN3S, 319.9 g/mol. · pubchem:6099
CAS registry number 61-73-4. · pubchem:6099
IUPAC name: [7-(dimethylamino)phenothiazin-3-ylidene]-dimethylazanium chloride. · pubchem:6099
Where the evidence actually sits
Proportion of the 2 claims about Methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride) standing at each tier. Community volume is shown on the Consensus tab beside this and is never averaged into it.
Living evidence history
2 resolved citations, oldest to newest, coloured by tier. Retractions and contradictions land here as they are recorded.
Structure
No structure representation on record. PepJunkie draws only what an authoritative record supplies; for a peptide that is the residue sequence, and none has been curated for Methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride) yet.
Dose evidence, rung by rung
A studied human dose exists on file. Open the rung: the dose is the paper's, in its context, never PepJunkie's.
