Orexin B — living evidence map
The Atlas page holds the claims; this is how its evidence evolved.
Summary
Orexin B (hypocretin-2) is one of two hypothalamic orexin peptides; the orexin system is a critical regulator of sleep and wakefulness, and deficient orexin signaling causes narcolepsy-cataplexy in humans, dogs and rodents. · pmid:19689310
In rats, orexin-A and orexin-B cell bodies lie only in the lateral hypothalamus and perifornical nuclei, but orexin-B fibers are sparse compared with the widespread orexin-A fibers. · pmid:10698122
Mechanism
In mice, orexin A crossed the blood-brain barrier from the blood by simple diffusion, whereas orexin B was rapidly degraded in blood and was not detected intact in the brain after intravenous injection. · pmid:10087007
Identity
PubChem CID 90479794: Orexin B (human), C123H212N44O35S, 2899.3 g/mol. · pubchem:90479794
CAS registry number 205640-91-1. · pubchem:90479794
Where the evidence actually sits
Proportion of the 3 claims about Orexin B standing at each tier. Community volume is shown on the Consensus tab beside this and is never averaged into it.
Living evidence history
3 resolved citations, oldest to newest, coloured by tier. Retractions and contradictions land here as they are recorded.
Structure
No structure representation on record. PepJunkie draws only what an authoritative record supplies; for a peptide that is the residue sequence, and none has been curated for Orexin B yet.
Dose evidence, rung by rung
A studied human dose exists on file. Open the rung: the dose is the paper's, in its context, never PepJunkie's.
- Approved-label dose · a resolved regulatory document names a labelled dose
nothing resolved on this rung
- Studied human doses · resolved human studies at the established tier
- Integrative physiology of orexins and orexin receptors. · pmid 19689310 · 2009
- Observational evidence · resolved human data at the emerging tier: thin, or contested
nothing resolved on this rung
- Community-reported protocols · protocol propositions from distinct members, counted once per human
nothing resolved on this rung
- Preclinical evidence · resolved animal, cell or mechanistic work
- Orexin A but not orexin B rapidly enters brain from blood by simple diffusion. · pmid 10087007 · 1999
- Differential distribution of orexin-A and orexin-B immunoreactivity in the rat brain and spinal cord. · pmid 10698122 · 1999
3 resolved citations, 0 unresolved (an unresolved citation lends nothing). Community volume is its own rung and is never averaged into the evidence rungs.
